VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES - HELP GET OUT THE VOTE WITH MDP ONE TEAM

Door knocking and phone banking continue in cooperation with the Michigan Dems’ One Team. Turn out is even more important this year than in previous years, and while pundits can make predictions for a “blue wave”, it won’t happen on Election Day without all of us working to Get Out the Vote! Join the door knocking and phone banking efforts and encourage your friends and family to vote!!

DOOR KNOCKING IN HOUGHTON COUNTY

This fall, Michigan picks a new Governor, a new U.S. Senator…and the doors we knock now are how we win in November…

Whether this is your first time knocking doors or you're a seasoned pro, we'll provide plenty of training and all the materials you need to feel comfortable and confident. You'll get a walk list, a quick run-through of the script, and everything you need to hit the doors.

PHONE BANKING (VIRTUALLY)

With over 300,000 people in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, we have the capacity to swing the results of this November's election…

So this is our invitation to you, our northern friends, to aid us in this endeavor. If you have a day, an hour, and the desire to help us build a brighter tomorrow, then we have a place for you. Six days a week we're making calls to folks across the UP and the rest of Northern Michigan.

CAN’T DOOR KNOCK OR PHONE BANK THIS FALL?

NEWS FROM THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL

News items from across the state this past week:

  • On Sunday the 20th, Copper Country Today host Tim Peters welcomed Democratic 110th State House candidate Brian Irizarry to the show. Hear their discussion on the show’s Spotify.

  • Vice President Kamala Harris was in Detroit on Tuesday where she endorsed and campaigned with Abdul El-Sayed. MORE: Detroit Free Press

  • As concerns have grown about the amount of Republican PAC money being spent to help Mike Rogers’ campaign, Senator Elissa Slotkin has urged Democratic groups to step up funding for Abdul El-Sayed. In the Axios article where Slotkin is quoted, an unnamed Democratic “operative” got specific, saying “ Right now, the so-called establishment wing of the Democratic Party is the only one spending for Abdul." The article points to Senator Bernie Sanders, who has been very vocal in his support for the Michigan Democrat, but has not yet transferred any money to the El-Sayed campaign from his own campaign account. MORE: Axios

  • Last Wednesday the Mining Journal reported that Callie Barr has challenged incumbent Jack Bergman to three debates leading up to the November general election. You won’t be surprised to hear that when the Journal reached out to Bergman’s office for comment they did not hear back. MORE: Mining Journal

  • On Thursday, WNMU, WLUC-TV6 and mediaBrew Communications joined forces for the Michigan 38th Senate District Candidate Forum featuring Dave Prestin (R), Kelli Van Ginhoven (D) and Sara Cambensy (I). The forum was broadcast on WNMU’s Media Meet program. You can view the broadcast here.

  • A Candidate Forums has been announced by the League of Women Voters of the Copper Country - Gogebic Range Unit. The event is this Thursday starting at 5:30 PM, and is for the 38th District State Senate candidates, and Kelli van Ginhoven, Dave Prestin and Sara Cambensy are confirmed to attend.
