“The Idea that MAGA Owns Rural America is a Lie”

MAGA doesn’t own Rural America says David Pakman, the host of his own progressive, independent video podcast with over 3 million subscribers. He made the statement in this item’s headline in a recent video highlighting the enormous crowds coming out to see Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in deep red parts of the country.

IT’S TRUE! — and we here in Houghton County are part of the proof. Literally hundreds of you, your friends, and your neighbors, have come out to participate in the successive local protests and marches of the last few months. We are meeting the moment and making our voices heard right here in the rural Upper Peninsula.

WE ARE HERE, WE ARE STRONG, AND WE ARE NOT GOING AWAY!

MAGA may have a history of being boisterous, but ours is the message that’s now resonating around the country. On Saturday, the 250th anniversary of the battles at Lexington and Concord — the first battles of the Revolutionary War, that made George III the last King of America — 200 of you showed up for the No Kings march organized by AWAVE and the HCDP.

Thank you to all who turned out for the No Kings march on Saturday

Marchers on the Bridge

Our march was one of more than 700 being held this past Saturday across the nation, in cities and towns big and small. 50501, the group loosely organizing the marches, was expecting millions across the country to turn out, after over 3 million nationwide were estimated to have attended the Hands Off! protests on April 5th.

Thank you to all of you who turned out for this march, and the other local marches and protests organized this year by AWAVE, Yoopers for Ukraine, Keweenaw Indivisible and Keweenaw Against the Oligarchy!

BE PROUD OF WHAT WE TOGETHER ARE DOING! LET’S KEEP MEETING THE MOMENT!

SECOND BERGMAN(LESS) TOWN HALL SCHEDULED TONIGHT

FEISTY & KEWEENAW INDIVISIBLE

Local citizen Bill Fink is organizing another town hall for Rep. Jack Bergman, since he can’t seem to organize one himself.

The second Town Hall is scheduled for tonight, Tuesday, April 22nd from 6:30 PM to 10 PM. The Keweenaw Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (KUUF) at 604 Bridge Street in Houghton will again be the venue. If you are not able to attend in person, Zoom will be available to view the event.

Below is a video of highlights from the last town hall, as posted to Keweenaw Indivisible’s YouTube page.

“Watch and listen to the concerns of everyday citizens of the Copper Country as they speak truth to power and share their stories, their pain, their anger, but also their hopes, their strength, and their solidarity with one another.

On April 22, 2025, FEISTY(R) will host another Town Hall for Bergman at the Keweenaw Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Houghton, MI, from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM Eastern during the Congressional in-district work week. Jack Bergman has been invited, but will he show up?”
