BRIDGE MARCH THIS SATURDAY - ON HISTORIC REVOLUTIONARY ANNIVERSARY
HCDP AND AWAVE
This Saturday, April 19th, is the 250th anniversary of the battles of Lexington and Concord — forever memorialized as “the shot heard ‘round the world”. These battles were the first military clashes of the American Revolutionary War, against the British Empire and King George III. On this historic anniversary the Houghton County Democrats and AWAVE (Advocates for Those Without a Voice Everywhere) are organizing a Bridge March.
Join us Saturday morning at 11:30 AM as we protest the actions of Trump and Musk, and celebrate 250 years without a king. Meet at the public parking lot on Sheldon Avenue next to the Lift Bridge.

As with other local events this year, this march is part of a series of nationwide actions protesting the ongoing chaos and harm to our nation caused by the actions of Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
THE ONLY WAY FOR CHANGE TO HAPPEN IS FOR ALL OF US TO CONTINUE TO TURN OUT AND MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD!

REMINDER: KEWEENAW INDIVISIBLE
KEWEENAW INDIVISIBLE
Keweenaw Indivisible formed earlier this year. This local group describes their mission as follows:
“We organize, mobilize, and empower the Copper Country to challenge corruption, defend democracy, and support those most harmed by regressive political agendas. As part of the Indivisible network, we take local action to resist authoritarianism and build a just, inclusive, and sustainable future in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.”
Keweenaw Indivisible organized the successful April 5th rally and march at the bridge, at which they estimate 500 people took part. Thelocal group is part of the nationwide Indivisible network of groups.

SECOND BERGMAN(LESS) TOWN HALL SCHEDULED TUESDAY APRIL 22ND
FEISTY & KEWEENAW INDIVISIBLE
Local citizen Bill Fink is organizing another town hall for Rep. Jack Bergman, since he can’t seem to organize one himself.
The second Town Hall is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22nd from 6:30 PM to 10 PM. The Keweenaw Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (KUUF) at 604 Bridge Street in Houghton will again be the venue.
Below is a video of highlights from the last town hall, as posted to Keweenaw Indivisible’s YouTube page.
“Watch and listen to the concerns of everyday citizens of the Copper Country as they speak truth to power and share their stories, their pain, their anger, but also their hopes, their strength, and their solidarity with one another.
On April 22, 2025, FEISTY(R) will host another Town Hall for Bergman at the Keweenaw Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Houghton, MI, from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM Eastern during the Congressional in-district work week. Jack Bergman has been invited, but will he show up?”
